In The Church

Get Involved – Serving In the Church

At AFBC, belonging isn’t just about sitting in the pew — it’s about serving together, growing together, and making a difference together. Below you’ll find the many ways you can connect, contribute your gifts, and help our church family live out our mission.

Why Serve?

  • Build community— Serve alongside others, form relationships, and become part of what makes AFBC more than a weekly event.
  • Use your gifts— Every member brings unique talents. When you serve, you help the church thrive, and you grow in your personal walk with Christ.
  • Live our mission— As we strive to “reach our world through making disciples of Jesus”, your involvement helps make that vision real.
  • Experience fulfillment— Serving isn’t just a duty; it’s an opportunity to discover purpose, impact lives, and draw closer to God.

Ways to Get Involved

Here are some of the key ministry areas at AFBC.
  • The “Children” ministry provides age-appropriate Bible study, fun activities, and safe environments for kids.
  • “AWANA”, for younger children and elementary ages, happens on Wednesday evenings and offers a great way to serve through teaching, mentoring, games, and scripture memorization.
  • Families helping families: childcare, welcoming new parents, supporting events.
  • The “Students” ministry (middle and high school) invites older youth and adults to serve as small group leaders, mentors, and event helpers.
  • Encourage growth in faith, character, and leadership.
  • “Men” and “Women” ministries provide opportunities: mentoring, discipleship groups, retreats, and service projects.
  • “Seniors” ministry: seniors serve seniors, attend fellowship, and lead initiatives of love and care.
  • Use your time and skills to support local, national, and global missions through the “Missions” ministry.
  • Acts of service, evangelism, and partnership with our community.

Small Groups help the church live as family — you can serve by leading, hosting, or joining a group.

  • Behind the scenes and on stage: music, tech, welcoming teams, set-up/tear-down, hospitality.
  • Use your creativity and gifts to enhance worship and community.
  • Be part of our welcoming team: greeters, parking lot helpers, coffee ministry, and reception.
  • Facilities maintenance, event logistics, decorating — helping the building be a home for ministry.
